Phenylalanine

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid found in foods that are high in protein such as meat, eggs, dairy products and some nuts. It is a precursor to the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine which help regulate mood and mental alertness. Phenylalanine supplements can be used to help increase levels of these neurotransmitters when they are low due to dietary deficiencies or other medical conditions such as depression or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). They may also be beneficial for improving memory, focus and concentration.
